God, make me a wife day 2: Work/job/business

Do you still want to continue this challenge after I talked about household chores? That you are reading this makes me think the answer is yes. Yaay!
Today I wanted to talk about you 'the business woman'.

That doesn't mean that you need to have your own business or a job, but it is about what are you doing to build up your life? What is the plan for your life, what is your life goal?
A couple of weeks ago I was reading a blog about the difference about the rich and the poor. It was extremely superficial as it was about money and not about being rich because you have Jesus in your life. But I have to admit that it touched me, I find it a bit disturbing that there are so many differences, while it is so easy to implement at least a few of their habits in our lives.

The 'Proverbs 31 woman' was always very busy and she clearly had a plan for her life. The fact that she went out to buy and sell items, that she was busy sewing, cooking and taking care of her family shows that she was having a focus on things that really matter. So here is my question for you: where is your focus on? Facebook? Friends? Your family?

What do you really want to achieve in life and what do you need to do in order to achieve that? Do you need to do an extra study, taking on an extra job, starting your own business, finding a different job? God has a plan for your life! There is chance that you already know this verse from Jeremiah 29, but I would like to remind you of this:

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

How awesome! God has something for you, you are here with a reason! Oh and you are not only here to live, no God has something good for you.
What can you do today to give yourself a better tomorrow? I know for myself that I can be a bit lazy, my current job as a flight attendant consumes a lot of time, while I actually want to spend my time on my writings and my own business (jewelry making). But I am having this job with a reason, not only does it pays the bills it also a great feature on my CV so I just stick with for now. Now that I am hanging there I want my colleagues to be happy if they need to fly with me. So I encourage them, give them motivational feedback and help them grow. When the opportunity is there I tell my colleagues about church and God. As a flight attendant you are not allowed to express your faith to passengers as you are a representative for the airline but hey co-workers are fine ;-)

What attitude do you have towards your job or business (stay at home moms you included, you are the manager of your life and household). Are you working while keeping your eye on the price, the attitude of a follower of Christ?

What attitude do you have towards your co-workers? A lot of questions right? I want to share my opinions about this subject with you. First of all I pray a lot for my job, otherwise I go crazy! My job is very demanding and as I am a teamleader I need to make sure that I communicate a lot and also that everyone is motivated. When I am very tired I pray a bit harder, to make sure that I show the loving attitude of a follower of Christ. He was always loving and blessing others. So I always try to make sure that all the praise is going to my colleagues, if a passenger gives a compliment I tell the cabin crew that, telling them that it was because of their effort. Jesus his life wasn't about him, it revolved about the people who needed him the most.

Keeping your eye on the price
Sometimes you have to be at a certain place for a certain reason and although it may be easier to just leave and move on, there might be a reason why God placed you there. Make sure that you have a plan for your life (yes of course include God his guidance in this!) it is okay to dream of having your own business, know what you have to do to achieve this. Go to a workshop, find information online and make a planning etc. What are you aiming at and how is your progress going? Is there something that you can do differently or maybe you have to push a little harder. Or maybe you are a bit like me and you can be a bit lazy at times (Pyjama day, all day, every day!) or you are spending your time on Facebook while you can also spend it on making a phone call - Yes moi is quilty! Focus on your goal and make a planning on how to get there! God will show you which steps to take, but you have to take them, He is not going to do it for you.

The importance of having a plan for your life
In the beginning of this article I wrote about the difference about the rich and the poor. Did you know that 67% of the wealthy write down their goals vs. 17% of the poor? I find that very interesting! The idea behind writing down your goals is to help you focus on what you want to achieve. It is easier to stay on track if you know where you are going to. The chance that you will get lost on a side track is decreased as you can make decisions based on your 'life plan'. Once again this has nothing to do with the riches of having Christ but seeing so many Christians struggle... let us think like the rich and behave like them as well. Have a plan, know how to spend your time, have the right attitude and work hard!

Spend some time on Google and search on "poor and rich habits" or something similar and read some outcome of researches. Invite God in your life goal/plan and ask Him how to make your life richer, not only by money but by having Jesus inside of you and showing you exactly where to go.

Let us pray for one another! Feel free to post your prayer request or your thoughts on this.

Tomorrow we are going to talk about quiet time.
